In Sense and Sensibility (1995), the Dashwood family faces a financial crisis when their father dies and leaves the majority of his estate to his son from his first marriage. This leaves his second wife and their three daughters, Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret, in a difficult situation. Thankfully, they find solace in the form of a kind cousin who takes them in.

The family's financial struggles impact the marriage prospects for both Elinor and Marianne. Elinor, who is practical and level-headed, develops feelings for the wealthy Edward Ferrars. Unfortunately, his family disapproves of their match and forcefully separates them.

On the other hand, Marianne, who is romantic and passionate, finds herself drawn to the charming and adventurous John Willoughby. However, their relationship becomes complicated when shocking secrets come to light.

Throughout the film, the sisters navigate through love, heartbreak, societal expectations, and the pursuit of happiness. They find unlikely allies in the form of the wise and wealthy Colonel Brandon and the lively Mrs. Jennings. Together, they face various obstacles and learn valuable lessons about love, sacrifice, and the importance of staying true to oneself.
